At present, steel warehouses have become the main warehouse type for grain storage in most countries. Steel plate warehouse grain storage has the advantages of fast construction, good efficiency, and high degree of mechanization, and is accepted and used by more and more users. After years of development, steel plate silo technology has been widely used in grain depots, ports, feed mills and light food processing industries across China.
Types and characteristics of steel silos
Steel silos are divided into three types according to different construction methods: spiral steel silos, bolt-assembled steel silos, and welded silos. Different warehouse types also have their own characteristics. The spiral steel plate warehouse has a short construction period and low cost, but the warehouse capacity is limited and cannot be disassembled. The bolt-assembled steel plate warehouse has a high degree of standardization and can be prefabricated in the factory; it is simple to assemble and has strong maneuverability; it has a long service life; it has a large storage capacity and a low cost. The disadvantage is that the sealing performance is slightly worse than that of the spiral steel plate silo, and the maintenance cost is higher. The welded warehouse has good air tightness, thick steel plate on the warehouse wall, high strength, high grain storage height, good corrosion resistance and long service life. Therefore, welded warehouses are often used in steel plate warehouses in coastal ports due to corrosion of steel plates by salt in the air. Due to high air tightness requirements, welded warehouses are often used in controlled atmosphere warehouses. But at the same time, welding warehouses also have the disadvantages of difficult construction, high cost, and long cycle.
The use of steel silos generally should also have supporting systems and processes such as grain entry and exit, ventilation, fumigation, grain condition measurement and control, cleaning, dust removal, loading and unloading, silo dumping, cooling, and riot prevention. These systems and processes provide guarantee for the safe grain storage of steel silos.
Current research shows that for storable grains such as wheat, the safe storage period of steel silos can be equivalent to the conventional storage period of room-type silos, and the optimal storage period is about 3 years. For rice, corn, etc., as long as the moisture is safe Within this range, the grain quality is good and there is no insect infection, and the longest storage period can be about 3 years. However, from the perspective of grain quality, the optimal storage period should be within two years.
